Walk to Little Britain Lake

Friday 18th August

As we had decided to stay in Yiewsley for a few days we wanted to take the chance to explore. We started walking along the Slough arm of the Grand Union Canal.

We soon found a lovely park right beside the canal. Dex took the opportunity for a paddle in the river.

We headed back along the towpath and then crossed over the canal.

Dex soon found another opportunity for a paddle!
We soon arrived at Little Britain Lake. I looked for Lou and Andy but couldn't see them!

There was a circular walk around the lake and it was lovely. I was lucky to capture this photo of 2 swans taking flight. They were trying to get to us quickly as they thought we had food!

Unlucky swans!
It really was a beautiful place.

It did start to rain half way around so we took shelter in the trees.
There were springs where water was being pumped into the lake to keep it fresh.

We left the lake and walked back along a road for a short distance until we reached the towpath again.

You can just imagine what Dex thought about this!

I loved the flowerbeds on this boat.
In the evening we decided to have dinner at the Waters Edge pub which is just a few yards along the towpath. http://www.the-watersedge.co.uk/
We had a really nice evening.
