Bugbrooke to Weedon

Thursday 2nd November

John took Dex and moved the car to our next mooring point at Weedon. He then walked back with Dex along the towpath.

We set off quite late, just before 12. It was quite chilly but thankfully not raining.

I've never seen a bird nesting box and feeder on a bridge before!
We are now getting close to Braunston which appears to be the narrow boat hub and there are so many Marinas around here, like this huge one at Heyford Fields.
We've also noticed that the boats around here are mostly well kept and pretty immaculate with pristine paint jobs and clearly boat owners take pride in keeping their vessels spic and span. Makes ours look a bit dowdy in comparison!

The brass on this boat was gleaming, clearly had been polished within an inch of it's life!

This boat reminded me of the arc!

Immaculate boats with immaculate moorings.

No locks on this stretch but we did pass some really attractive houses.

We got chatting on the towpath earlier with a lady who was moored at this Marina called Willows with her Labradoodle called Bella. She had lived aboard for 20 years and recommended some places of interest along the Leicester arm which is where we are next headed. Dex and Bella played together for ages in fact we had never seen Dex so animated with another dog. Must be love! We gave her a wave as we passed by.

There are a lot of converted wharfs along this stretch too, a reminder of how important a transport network the canal used to be back in it's heyday.

We both fell in love with this house which had amazing views and it's own mooring!

We passed another canalside pub called the Narrow boat. How original!

Another Marina and boatyard just before our destination at Weedon.

These 2 old work boats were crying out for some  TLC!

On our approach to our chosen mooring spot John spotted a kingfisher sitting in a tree. I managed to take a photo of it but sadly as I only had my phone camera handy you can't see it but trust me it's in this picture somewhere!! 😀

Another lovely quiet spot to moor for the night (apart from the trains!)
