Getting ready to leave

As the expression goes "it's been a funny old day Granville"
John managed to get a new water pump and fit it himself which was brilliant and saved us a fortune in call out and fitting fees. He had to check in the engine compartment to make sure everything fine before we go on the Thames. The engine department was flooded with water and we discovered that the bilge pump hadn't been working properly! So John had to look at that and clean out some pipes and it seems to be ok now..fingers crossed! In order to get to the engine compartment John had to take the dog gate out (which we need to stop Dex going overboard). As he removed it one of the metal fixing screws pinged over the side into the canal - great! 🙄
We've got a heavy duty magnet and I had a go with that to see if I could fish it out. I really didn't think there was any hope to find it but just as I was about to give up I felt something pull and hey presto I'd got it! Well pleased with myself 😀
Then we went to sort out the anchor and attach our new trolley to the roof. It was then we noticed that one of our lifebelts was missing. We thought maybe it got blown away in the recent rainstorm but then we noticed our barge pole is also missing so guess it has been pinched 😑
So annoying especially as we only bought a new one recently and John spent ages painting it. I guess lesson learned is that if it's not bolted down it could well go walkies! So a day of highs and lows. But apart from not having a bargepole we are now ready for the off! Here is a photo of Dex modelling the new trolley! 😀
