Walk to Kintbury

Well we survived the storms last night but there are several branches down so really glad they missed us! Can't believe we had to have the heating on in June, good old English Summer!

Dex and I decided to take the towpath to Kintbury but as we were walking along I spotted a path into a field and found we were at Port Down Hungerford Common. Another area of natural beauty.

We walked through the fields (well Dex ran of course) and it eventually met up with the towpath again. Luckily the rain had stopped and the sun even came out for most of the walk. It was a really beautiful part of the canal and so peaceful.

On the way we came across a hire boat and a poor old man on the bank absolutely soaked! The wind had taken the tiller arm and it had knocked him clean in the canal! He looked really shocked but there were lots of people helping him so I wished them well and carried on walking. The joys of inexperienced boating!
Kintbury was lovely, I didn't get chance to go into the village but just looking from the canal it really is a picturesque spot.

I have never really wanted a big house as it just seems like more to clean (unless of course you can afford to have people that "do"!) But must admit this house on the canalside really made me want that lottery win - I could just picture sitting on the swing with a glass of wine - bliss!
At Kintbury I also got a bad case of boat envy when I saw this fabulous boat with all the wonderful flowers. I spoke to the owner, clearly it was a complete labour of love.
