We had arranged to meet my sister Jan for lunch at the Pelican at Froxfield. We set off from Great Bedwyn and all was going well. It was my turn to steer and John and Dex were setting the locks. Not too far to go so we thought we would easily be at the pub for 1pm. But the joys of boating are you never know what's going to happen and we just couldn't find anywhere to moor where it was deep enough, every time we tried to get close to the bank we ran aground. So we kept moving further and further towards Hungerford. We met a nice couple who had been on their boat for 3 years and still hadn't completed all the system. So maybe our 2 years is not enough, we will see.. anyway we ended up mooring near the church in Hungerford and met Jan for a late lunch at the John O Gaunt instead! It was a really nice lunch anyway and at least we got to meet eventually. Plan on staying in Hungerford for a while so hope to meet up with family and friends whilst we are here.
Later that evening we took Dex for a walk along the towpath and had a cheeky G & T sat in the John O Gaunt garden.
