It was a real scorcher of a day. Definately shorts weather. John moved the car and walked back from Audlem with Dex. I took Prairie to the start of the locks. We had 12 to do today so we had decided to share the lock keeping duties.
At some of the locks there are little stalls with honesty boxes. This one was selling ice creams and cakes! My kind of stall!! I bought a coconut ice cream which was delicious. Well you need to keep cool in this weather!
There are 15 locks in total in the Audlem flight but we were only doing 12 today (thankfully as it was so hot!) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audlem
There was a funny little Lock keepers hut at this lock.
We were really glad to see a boat coming up, less work to do as we could leave the gates open.
Dex decided it was best to stay in the cool! As you can see I had done today's washing!!
With the flight of 6 remaining locks behind me.
Yay! Another boat coming up!
Another stall, this time selling veggies, fruit and flowers.
This building was very unusual!
I met another boater with 3 very cute dogs.
Finally we had arrived at Audlem and found a good mooring spot in the shade.
The pub was opposite and was calling us! We had a nice lunch and a refreshing pint sat in the garden. The Shroppie Fly is a really old pub and the bar is made from one of the old boats. The fly boats worked 24 hours with frequent changes of horses.
Audlem Mill is now a canal gift shop. http://www.audlemmill.co.uk/history1.html
