Braunston to Clifton Upon Dunsmore

Tuesday 5th June

We were getting nearer to our boating friend Cal whom we had met when going down Caen hill flight in Devizes a few years back. He has a permanent mooring at Clifton Upon Dunsmore (Clifton Cruisers) and we could get there today so we arranged to have dinner together that evening. So John took the car part of the way and then walked back with Dex and then we set off.

I liked these ducks enjoying their own mooring 😀

We were glad to get under this bridge before it collapsed!

We passed a large marina at Barby

I loved the ducks on this boat roof 😀

At Hillmorton locks it was my turn to steer.

Dex decided it was time for a game of chase the stick

There were only 3 locks in total so it didn't take long and then we were on our way again.

This boat is named after a village in Wales near to where we live!

We were now about 400 yards away from Cal's mooring at Clifton Cruisers. John decided to moor up and walk on to check if there were any spaces. He had just got back to say everything was full when we got a call from Cal to say he had managed to get us a space in the marina for the night which was brilliant 😀

So John took the boat there and Dex and I walked back to the car and drove that to the marina, via the supermarket as John was cooking chilli and Cal and his lovely greyhound Ashleigh were coming on board. We had a great evening together and Ashleigh and Dex got on really well too!
