John moved the car further on and I started steering the boat. He would walk back along the towpath until we met up hopefully somewhere in the middle!
There was a whole family of ducks sheltering under this bridge.
I realised I was wearing the same colours as the boat - how very sad!! 😁
There were lots of houses with canalside gardens as we approached Nuneaton.
If you can't afford a canalside property then maybe a canalside allotment is the thing to have!
It got busier the nearer we got to Nuneaton.
I hit something under the water going through this bridge. Probably a shopping trolley or a bike!
We passed by Starline boats at Boot wharf.
I really had to squeeze through the gap as the boats were double moored.
These flowers are so glorious and the planter too!
More allotments! Obviously a lot of keen gardeners here. Actually we have noticed how friendly everyone is around here and I have been called "me duck" twice! 😀
I was thrilled to see this large brood of Moor hens as I've only ever seen 3 chicks before. I did see a water vole yesterday as well but of course was too slow with the camera!
These ducks were clearly enjoying their canalside mooring!
At last I could see John and Dex and threw John a rope so he could pull me in.
We had to wait for another boat to pass by before we could set off again.
We were now passing by Springwood Haven Marina. It looked lovely but the wind was really blowing across the fields and I was glad that John had taken over steering the boat.
The canal passes below Hartshill and here you can see a lovely old wharf with a splendid clock tower. This is now a tearoom and cookery school.
This area is reputed to have been where Boudica had her last battle and possibly where she was killed. http://www.indigogroup.co.uk/edge/boudica6.htm But we will never know for certain..
These sweet peas were stunning. Not usual to see them growing in the towpath hedgerow so I guess they had escaped from a nearby garden.
We passed a towpath Alpaca farm!
Oh it would be lovely to have my allotment cancel side! :-)x
