I decided to explore one of the many footpaths and so Dex and I set off on our mini adventure.
We took a footpath which led across many fields.
The views were great. Some fields had sheep in and some had cows so Dex had to go on the lead part of the way.
We got a great view of Saddington reservoir in the distance. https://www.naturespot.org.uk/wild-place/saddington-reservoir
We had to walk right across this field of cows and calves but am pleased to say that Dex was really good and they didn't bother us at all - phew!
Then across theses fields of sheep with some very cute lambs.
After this we went wrong as the signpost arrows had clearly been turned around to face the wrong way by some clown and so annoyingly against my better judgement I followed them and ended up in Smeeton Westerby village. It was a couple of miles extra on our walk but never mind. I did see this beautiful tree in someone's garden, no idea what it is but it is really lovely.
Back through the field of sheep again!
We found the most beautiful wild flower meadow and Dex loved running around in the flowers.
After this my phone battery died so I couldn't access my Ordenance survey mapping. But I went by my instincts and picked up the path leading back to the canal. When we reached the canal bridge however the gate leading to the canal had been blocked up which was really annoying. We ended up climbing over a fence to reach the towpath! Finally got back to the boat about 3 hours later!
