The next morning, I took Dex for a nice walk in the nearby fields.
The plan had been for John to take the car to go shopping however when he tried to start the car he found it wouldn't start! We'd had a problem the previous week and had to have it repaired. So it was really frustrating to find yet another problem. He called out National Breakdown (again) they must be sick of us by now but we're certainly getting our money's worth! They tried their hardest to get him going but no luck. He explained our circumstances and they were really helpful and recommended a local garage at Roade. So they towed the car there and John came back to the boat. Looking at the map we realised if we took Prairie to Stoke Bruerne we would be closer to Roade and so could walk there when the car was ready. There was also a small Nisa supermarket there so we could get some groceries. We stayed another night at Yardley Gobion and then on Wednesday 4th October we set off for Stoke Bruerne.
Before we set off we decided to get a pump out, fuel and gas from the boatyard and so John had to reverse across the canal. It wasn;t easy with the wind blowing!
We loved this sign at the boatyard!
We soon were heading off again, John walked Dex and I was in charge of the boat!
The scenery was again mostly open fields and farmland.
It only took a couple of hours to get there and no locks so relatively easy. We found a good mooring spot. In the afternoon John and I walked to Roade, it wasn't the best walk as mostly on the main road and it took half an hour to get there but at least we managed to stock up on supplies. We came back through Stoke Bruerne village which was really pretty.
Later in the afternoon we received some good news from the garage. They had identified the problem, a sensor needed replacing, they could fix it on Friday for £123 so not too bad. We were really relieved as honestly thought the worst.. the car will live to see another day! 😃
