We had found a boatyard at Yardley Gobion where we could leave Prairie for 3 weeks to have new side lights fitted, the headlight fixed and the boat inspection completed (this is due every 4 years, a bit like an MOT). We had to go home and then had Jess and Ben's wedding followed by dog sitting for Harley whilst they were on honeymoon. So we just had a short journey to make from Cosgrove.
Cosgrove itself was lovely, a really cute village with some nice buildings including the Barleycorn pub where we enjoyed a nice meal and I tried rhubarb gin! Delicious 😋
The quickest way to walk to the Barley Mow pub was to go under the canal via a tunnel.
The bridge at Cosgrove is really attractive. http://www.cosgrovehistory.co.uk/doc/bridge/br.html
The views along this stretch were mostly across open fields.
We saw the 5 star hotel boat "The Billet" once again on it's return voyage.
We were soon passing the Navigation pub at Thrupp Wharf. A lovely location but quite expensive so we decided not to indulge!
After this we passed by Thrupp Wharf Marina
John was pleased to spot this boat named after his home town!
Eventually we arrived at Baxter's boatyard, Yardley Gobion. It was easy to find a mooring spot opposite. John made the arrangements with the boatyard and we left them the key so they could move Prairie into their marina and make the necessary repairs. We had already loaded our car at Cosgrove and so now we just had to walk back along the towpath to pick up the car and head for Wales.
