We decided to have a day exploring Leighton Buzzard as it seemed like a nice town. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leighton_Buzzard
We started the day with a dog walk across the nearby fields called Ouzel Meadows which ran alongside the canal towpath.
We then walked back along the towpath. I had spotted a cake boat which was selling not only cakes and drinks but crepes, cheesy crumpets and ice-creams! We stopped there for breakfast as it was such a glorious day. I had crepes with Nutella and banana and John had cheesy crumpets. Delicious! The lady who ran the boat cafe was lovely, her name was Sam.
After breakfast we headed into town. First we came across this unusual artwork which was to commemorate the building of the Vimy bomber during the First World War https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vickers_Vimy
Then we passed the lovely old Post Office.http://www.leighton-linslade.com/tours/other/lb_postoffice.html
Then across the road we saw the magnificent All Saints Church with it's 190ft spire.
We arrived just as a wedding party was filing out of the church so I couldn't resist a quick photo of the bride and the wedding car.
Leighton Buzzard is a market town and the Saturday market was worth a visit. There were lots of lovely old buildings around including the old Fire Station which is now a Pizza Express. http://www.leighton-linslade.com/tours/other/lb_thall.html
There are lots of narrow streets with old buildings and interesting architecture.
Later I had a return visit to the cake boat for an ice cream cornet with clotted cream on top - totally scrumptious!
